Racist encounter at a Chinese restaurant

There I go to a Chinese restaurant for some take out food today, I pay for my food then look in the bag and I see no chopsticks. I look at the Chinese guy who runs the restaurant and say: "Can I have chopsticks please". The guy looks at me then brings me a plastic fork and puts it in the bag. I look at him and say "No, no... chopsticks". He acts all surprised and asks me "Do you want another one?" He brings me another plastic fork and puts it in the bag.

Do you think it's racist that whenever a Nordic looking All American guy asks for a chopstick the Chinese guy assumes he wants a fork?
