Because of this, it can take less than 24 hours to deploy marines and this is why they are part of the rapid response force. In general, marines are first to leave and last to go in any type of disturbance. Marines have a huge reputation to uphold as being the best of the best, and they have to work very hard to keep this reputation intact. Trained as naval infantry, they are particularly skilled with amphibious operations. Only by demonstrating hard work, dedication and a real commitment to the Corps? core values will a marine be able to take advantage of the many promotional opportunities that are in place. The core values of the Corps are honor, courage and commitment. Marines live and breathe these values.
